Not Flying the Breeze of the Gowanus by Willard Mullin
The entertaining work of art from famed sports cartoonist Willard Mullin depicts the frustration felt by fans of the Brooklyn Dodgers after "Dem Bums" fell short for the National League pennant by two games against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Bum is shown tangled among a 1950 pennant flag and remarking, "this thing wuz supposed t'be flyin' in th' breeze off'n the Gowanus before now!" The words "FLAG RAISING" are written in blue just above the drawing itself, and the piece measures 25x27" inches with matting and frame. This was originally published in the New York Daily News with address and editors name on this version, in Mullin's hand.
