One of Ivan Rodriguez's Final Game Used Bats (PSA GU 9 & Pudge LOA)
Ivan Rodriguez Marucci pro-model bat (Pudge Custom Cut – M) used by Rodriguez during one of his last Major League games with the Washington Nationals in 2011. The bat displays outstanding use along its entire length, including ball marks, rack marks, a 3.5” wrap of black tape at the base of the handle, Mota-stick on the handle, and an approximate 12” handle crack that includes a small chip. Rodriguez’s uniform number (7) is stamped in the knob, as are the bat’s length and weight, “4 2,” (denoting 34 inches and 33.4 ounces), and the manufacture date 8/08/11. Rodriguez appeared in just 44 games with Washington in 2011, but from August 8th (the date the bat was produced) until the end of the season, Rodriguez appeared in just four games, making this one of, if not the last bat he ever used in a Major League game. Rodriguez finished the 2011 season with 2 home runs, 19 RBI, and a .218 average. One of the greatest catchers in the history of the game, Rodriguez retired with a .296 career average, 311 home runs, and 1,332 RBI. At the time of his retirement, he held many Major League records for catchers, including most games caught (2,427), most hits (2,749), most Gold Gloves (13), and most All-Star Game starts (12) and appearances (14, tied with Yogi Berra). He was also just the second catcher (along with Johnny Bench) to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. This bat originates directly from Rodriguez's personal collection and is accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Rodriguez. Comes with PSA GU Letter of Authenticity (GU 9).
