Only Known 1908 Jack Johnson V. Tommy Burns Panoramic Postcard
Possibly one-of-a-kind, this spectacular postcard pictures the Australian match that made Jack Johnson the Heavyweight Champion. The verso advertises the fight films by Gaumont, a true rarity as the Johnson-Burns fight films were largely held from distribution. It is folded and unposted, with place for stamp on back of this incredibly rare advertising piece. Pictures promoter Hugh McIntosh and a simulation of the fight and crowd. Edge and corner wear with some soiling. Measuring 7 3/8" x 4 1/2", this is one of our favorite pieces in this auction.
