Before A-Rod, Jeter or Nomar there was Willie Wells. Considered the first shortstop in professional baseball history to combine mercurial fielding and home run hitting power. This is the only Willie Wells contract from his playing days to have surfaced. The contract also was witnessed by and exhibits a great signature of fellow Negro League player Quincey Troupe. From the 1941 season in the Puerto Rican League this beauty has NRMT signatures and is o/w EX+.
