Legendary St. Louis Post-Dispatch cartoonist Amadee Wohlschlaeger worked for that paper roughly 50 years but clearly did not set aside his drafting table upon retirement, as evidenced by many of these sketches, a couple of which are unfinished and include the artist's notes on stencil. Among the 19 pencil and ink works included here are drawings of Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile, who died tragically in his hotel room during the 2002 season, and sensational slugger Albert Pujols. Other St. Louis icons immortalized by Amadee are Stan Musial, Red Schoendeist, Jack Buck, Bob Costas, Bob Gibson, Bernie Federko, Lou Brock and the Weatherbird.
