Original Mickey Mantle Hartland Statue

Original Mickey Mantle Hartland Statue

Displayed is an original 1958-62 Mickey Mantle Hartland Statue. Hartland Plastics was founded in Wisconsin in 1941. Before producing sports figurines (statues), Hartland was known for producing "Western" statues, such as cowboys and horses. The company produced sports statues from 1950 through the 1990s. The figurines, first produced in 1950, were made from mold-injected acetate plastic resin. The offered Mantle statue is 8.5" tall, measured from the bottom of the feet to the top of the held bat. It was part of what was called the 900 Series. Statues of stars such as Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Warren Spahn, Babe Ruth, and Mickey Mantle were sold in stadiums, specialty stores, and Woolworths. In the 1960s, Hartland added 10 more statues, and in later years Hartland added more baseball statues and statues of players in other sports. The figurines had an original asking price of $1.98. Hartland statues are the most popular vintage baseball statues. The statue comes with a reproduction bat, a separate piece that can be placed into the hands of the statue. The statue has toning, because of age and there are a few small marks on the left leg of the statue. Otherwise, the statue is in excellent condition. The statues were originally sold as toys, but they have since become valued collectibles.
