Oscar Robertson College Basketball Hall of Fame Medal In Presentational Case
Stunningly beautiful for its presentation as well as its contents, this lot features the actual medal awarded to Oscar Robertson for his induction into the College Basketball Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class in 2006. The gorgeous original cherry wood presentation box flips open to reveal the medal inside, and a plate under the lid is engraved "National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame 2006 Inductee." Plates on two sides of the hexagonal box, which measures 4.25" tall and 5.5" across, read "Oscar Robertson - University of Cincinnati" and "Founding Class Member." The medal is 3.5" in diameter with original pristine red ribbon, with the front reading "National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame," and the back bearing engraving, "Oscar P. Robertson 2006 Founding Class Member University of Cincinnati." Robertson set 14 NCAA records in his three years with the Bearcats, and was the national champ in scoring in each. Cincinnati went 79-9 during that stretch, making the Final Four twice. To put the prestige of this award in perspective, other inductees in that inaugural class included John Wooden, Bill Russell, Dean Smith, and the family of James Naismith. Box and medal are NM, as is the original ribbon.
