Oversized Baseball Glove Chair from Stadium Club

Oversized Baseball Glove Chair from Stadium Club

Someone call King Kong and tell him he left his mitt in the entrance to the Stadium Club. Better yet, take this massively mirthful conversation piece home and include it in your Busch Stadium display collection, the better to sit in its comfy, cozy “pocket” and marvel at the Ozzie Smith and Stan the Man memorabilia. The love seat shaped exactly like a baseball mitt may not be an Ozzie model, but as authentic-looking as it is – right down to the webbing between thumb and forefinger -- it was one of the most popular items in the place, running one-two with “Slugger Bird.” The Italian-made, chocolate-brown leather chair measures 40” from thumb to pinkie and 80” from “heel” to fingertips. The chair’s popularity has affected its condition, its “hands-on” (or other body part) usage leaving it at least as broken in as David Eckstein’s glove. The butter-soft leather is mottled light and dark brown from wear and there is also obvious wear and tear in the form of cracks in the surface, soiling, etc. Clearly, a lot of people plopped into it for photo-ops. A fixture of the club for years, the chair was refinished several times, and is in overall G-VG condition, certainly capable of securely holding several people at once. The chair is easily movable, mounted on wheels. <br>(Estimate $2,000 - $3,000)
