His dominating defensive presence helped St. Louis go all the way in ’82 and helped them accomplish 2 pennant-winning seasons (’85 & ’87). His offense steadily improved so much that he was able to get the Cardinals to the World Series in 1987, the season of his career, batting .303 with 75 RBI & 43 stolen bases. He surpassed both Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente in racking up Gold Glove awards with 13. His unmatched defensive prowess combined with his steadily increasing offensive contributions earned him a spot in the Hall of Fame (2002). We offer his game used batting helmet, well used. Marked with his #1 on the visor, also written on the inside warning tag. A faded “Oz” is written on inside in silver sharpie.
