Pair Of Walter Camp Original Cabinet Photographs circa 1880
Walter Camp was one of the giants of football. He stands among the other greats like Stagg, Rockne, Thorpe and Warner. Camp is the father of American football and drove its evolution from rugby. He played in the first Yale-Harvard game of rugby in 1876. From that point on he conceived what Americans now watch in high school, college and the NFL. Two stellar photos (4-1/8 x 6-1/2") of Camp here. One shows him alone and in uniform at the Yale fence. This privilege was reserved solely for team captains. In 2003, this exact image was used on a stamp by the US Postal Service. The second photo was shot pretty close in time to the first because Camp appears to be no different looking in it. It’s a classic portrait photo. Each has ornate "G.W. Pach" photography stampings on the reverse. Both are in fabulous shape, overall Near Mint.
