Peggy Lee/Billy Eckstine/The Drifters Concert Poster

Peggy Lee/Billy Eckstine/The Drifters Concert Poster

Swingin' poster for a November 3, 1954 concert fronted by Peggy Lee, Billy Eckstine & The Drifters bills the gig at the Wichita Forum as "The Biggest Show of '54" (and indicates tickets available at Hollanbaugh's Drug Store). Notably, Lee had recently retired from showbiz, but couldn't stay away from singing jazz and the blues, which she did until her last breath. As a Downbeat critic once wrote, if you didn't get a thrill seeing Peggy Lee sing jazz in a nightclub, "Jack, you must be dead." Other acts included the Pete Rugolo Orchestra, George Kirby, The Three Arnauts & The Slate Brothers. 14 x 22" black, red and yellow poster is still vibrant and VG the only damage being some browning along the white edges and background that does not affect the main images. Terrific piece of jazz arcanum.
