Offered is an astounding collection of 27 important vintage boxing photos from Percy Dana. Dana is recognized in the world of sports as the definitive fight photographer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As you will see with this group of photos, each carrying the “Dana Studios” stamp, his great sense of the “event” surrounding the major fights of the day, capture the atmosphere and excitement of each genre. He was a man well ahead of his time. Photos are a mixture of actual fight action and posed fighters with promoters. Historic turn-of-the-century fights include: Stanley Ketchel vs. Jack Johnson - 1909 (3). Two show Ketchel’s 12th round knock down of Johnson and one shows Johnson standing over the fallen Ketchel; James Jeffries vs. Bob Fitzsimmons - 1902; James Jeffries vs. James Corbett - 1903; Billy Papke vs. Stanley Ketchel (2) - Nov. 26, 1908 Middleweight Championship & Sept. 7, 1908; James Jeffries vs. Jack Munroe - 1904; George Gardner vs. Bob Fitzsimmons - 1903; Kid Herman vs. Joe Gans; & many more.
