Pernell Whitaker was born on January 2, 1964, in Norfolk, Virginia. He has fought as both a lightweight and welterweight during his career and has held the WBA, WBC and IBF Lightweight Titles as well as the WBC Welterweight Title. Whitaker is a member of the Hall Of Fame and considered one of the best "pound for pound" fighters of the past 50 years. Offered here is a fight-worn robe attributed to Whitaker and used in one of his fights. The robe is purple satin with black trim sporting a purple sash and hood. Manufactured by Ironhead. On the back is sewn, "IRONHEAD PERNELL SWEET PEA WHITAKER." On the front left breast is a patch for POUND FOR POUND 1. The robe is intact, generally clean showing anticipated use. Rare offering.
