Pernell Whitaker was born on January 2, 1964 in Norfolk, Virginia. After winning Olympic Gold, he fought as both a lightweight and welterweight during his professional career and held the WBA, WBC and IBF Lightweight titles as well as the WBC Welterweight title. Offered here is an original fight-worn robe used by Pernell Whitaker in one of his fights. This knee-length robe is made of green satin with black lettering. On the back in script is sewn: "Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker." The front sports three pockets and two Everlast labels. On the left label it has been signed by Whitaker: "Sweet Pea World Champ." Attractive and rare from one of the best fighters of the past 25 years.
