Pete Rose Original Limited Edition Silkscreen by Andy Warhol

Pete Rose Original Limited Edition Silkscreen by Andy Warhol

What better subject for the American Pop artist, Andy Warhol, than the most controversial sports hero of our modern day, Pete Rose? You can see the original piece hanging in the Cincinnati Art Museum, and this rendition at Lelands. The Museum commissioned Warhol to create a piece to commemorate Rose after he broke Ty Cobb’s long-standing lifetime hits record. The original work of art, derived from a photo taken by Cincinnati photographer Gordon Baer, is designed to resemble 1985 Topps baseball cards. Limited edition silkscreen is enormous, a powerful image alone, and a powerful statement. Pencil signature from Charlie Hustle underlines his image. Additionally signed by Andy Warhol, also in pencil and numbered as "11/50." Handsomely framed in red to 33x41" overall.
