Piece of the Goalpost from One of the Greatest College Football Games Ever Played
From the classic Army-Notre Dame Game of 1926, this was a stunning 7-0 win for the Irish and Knute Rockne. The piece is cloth (they covered the posts to protect the players) and measures 10.5x4". It is notated on the face, "Part of Goal Post…Army Notre Dame…Nov 13, 1926…Yankee Stadium - N.Y." Comes with great letter from gentleman who got it from the woman whose farther took it down when they were at the game together in 1926. It is her father's handwriting on the piece. Comes with their fair copy of the game program.
