Playing Golf in Yosemite Park by Ansel Adams
Beautiful black and white photo taken by Ansel Adams of two couples playing a round of golf on the first green at Wawona golf course in Yosemite National Park in California. The photo is dated May 5, 1942 from the San Francisco Examiner. Wawona is a nine hole championship golf course measuring 3,035 yards and is a par 35. It was the first regulation course in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when it opened in 1918. Near mint condition except for one small smudge above the tree line in the top right corner. Typed caption sheet affixed to the verso “released by Yosemite National Park” and Adams stamp on the verso. Ansel Adams yet again captured the beautiful back drop of Yosemite Park with giant evergreens surrounding the putting green.
