Poignant Lou Gehrig Day Photo Signed by Joe McCarthy

Poignant Lou Gehrig Day Photo Signed by Joe McCarthy

“For the past two weeks you have been reading about the bad break I got. Yet today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this earth.” So began one of the most famous and poignant speeches in sports history, as Lou Gehrig addressed a teary-eyed Yankee Stadium on July 4, 1939. This high quality 8" x 10" black and white is a tremendous photo composition of one of baseball's finest moments. It is signed by Joe McCarthy over his image, with the signature in black ballpoint pen rating 9/10 strength. The man who once held the league record for consecutive games played would succumb to ALS on June 2, 1941.
