Fine collection of illustration art from the studio of Daniel Schwartz. These magical works feature tennis legends such as John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors (2), Bjorn Borg, Pam Shriver and Althea Gibson. Most are watercolors except for the McEnroe which is an oil. One of the Jimmy Connors is in artist’s pencil along with the legendary Althea Gibson. Sizes range from 12x14” to 16x21” and all are signed by Daniel Schwartz. This is truly a wonderful collection that appears to have been done in the 1960s and 70s. Daniel Schwartz is an award-winning illustrator who has worked for such top periodicals as Esquire, Fortune and Playboy. His works are in the collections of Leonard Bernstein, William Styron, Gay Talese, William Paley and Daniel Selznick. A sculptor as well, he was commissioned by the NFL in 1968 to create the bronze that became the Walter Payton NFL “Man of the Year” Award.
