President Truman Meets General MacArthur Photograph (1950)

President Truman Meets General MacArthur Photograph (1950)

Historic wire photo of President Harry S. Truman and General Douglas MacArthur shot on Wake Island in the Pacific Ocean in October, 1950. Wake Island was the sight if important WWII battles between Japan and the U.S. President George H.W. Bush fought in one of these battles. The wire photo is 9" x 7" and in EX condition. It shows the President and General speaking with each other through the rear window of their vehicle; the only auto available on the entire island at the time. The island served as a one-day meeting site between General MacArthur and President Truman, meeting to discuss strategy for the Korean War hostilities that had broken out four months earlier.
