Rare 1923 Jack Dempsey "Olympia" Boxing Card Complete Set in Original Box
A real knockout! There have only been two sets of these Olympia card sets that we have ever owned, and the other was 25 years ago. Contained in its original box with Jack Dempsey illustrated on the front, it reads: "JACK DEMPSEY HEAVY-WEIGHT OLYMPIA GAMES, LIMITED MONTREAL COPYRIGHTED TO CANADA 1923 PATENTS APPLIED FOR IN GREAT BRITAIN AND THE UNITED STATES." The original slip case cover (two pieces) has each top end flap missing, but otherwise is VG. The cards are overall EX (no creases) and could easily be sold separately. There are a total of 54 cards, two rules (one in French), 32 photo cards with name boxers, and 20 illustrated: Dundee, Firpo, Smith, Johnson, Curtin, Smith, Britton, Taylor, Bartfield, Wilson, Williams, White, Wilde, Herman, Kilbane, Burman, Gibbons, Ward, Valger, Genaro, Rosenberg, Criqui, Wills, Corbett, Tunney, Carpentier, Leonard, Villa, Siki and Walker. These hail from Montreal, hence the rarity.
