A beautiful combo of pin and poster from Red Grange's homecoming to the University of Illinois on October 13, 1934, following his retirement from football. Grange, a three-time All-American while at Illinois, was instrumental in growing the sport of football and legitimizing the NFL, though he briefly turned renegade and formed his own league following the 1925 season. The hand-cut poster features orange graphics on a blue, hand-painted background and is the first we have seen of its kind. The top is slightly trimmed and it has a few pin holes, but the graphics are near-perfect. It measures 18x14". The pin features two ribbons, one blue and one orange, with images of "The Galloping Ghost" and his coach at Illinois, Bob Zuppke.
