Rare 1940s Cleveland Indians Necklace
Timing is everything. Displayed is a rare Cleveland Indians necklace from the 1940s. The offering occurs at the early part of the 2022 season when the Cleveland franchise is now playing its first season under its new name - the Guardians. "The Indians' franchise is more than a century old," notes Tucker Elliot. "It's been called the Blues, the Bronchos, and the Naps. It's also been called a lot worse names during hard times when the team wasn't winning." As the new Guardians nickname takes hold, nostalgia for the former Indians moniker should only increase. Presented is a charming Cleveland Indians necklace that could have been worn when Cleveland Hall of Famers such as "Rapid Robert" Feller and Bob Lemon were on the mound, Lou Boudreau was playing shortstop and managing, and Larry Doby, the American League's first African American player, was hitting home run, and the Indians won the 1948 World series. The necklace charm is in the shape of a heart, and it is approximately one inch from top to bottom. In the center of the heart is a smaller, attached nearly circular emblem with the Indians' logo and "Cleveland Indians" imprinted on a tiny band above the logo. The attached chain is approximately 18 inches long, and when folded and connected end-to-end, measures about 9". The necklace is in excellent condition. The Cleveland Indians, now a name from the past, and this necklace will certainly evoke Indians' nostalgia.
