Rare 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers Large Format Team Composite "Champions" Pin w/Jackie Robinson Rookie
Exceedingly rare large-format composite pin issued in commemoration of the Brooklyn Dodgers' 1947 pennant winning season. This is one of the most elusive of all Brooklyn Dodgers pinbacks. Not only is it the first example we have ever offered, it is one of only a handful we have seen at auction in the past twenty years. Its rarity aside, the pin also dates from Jackie Robinson's historic rookie season, making it both a significant Jackie Robinson and Brooklyn Dodgers collectible. The pin features composite portraits of twenty-two team members, including Robinson, Reese, Snider, Hodges, and manager Burt Shotton. The printed lettering reads "Brooklyn Dodgers 1947 Champions." This pin was sold at the 1947 World Series and is nearly identical in design to the New York Yankees composite pin (equally rare) that was also available to fans at stadium concession stands. The pin (3.5" in diameter) displays light surface wear on the reverse and is otherwise in Excellent condition overall.
