Record Breaking Pete Rose 4,000 and 4,192 Hit Programs (2)
Baseball's all-time hit king hit two milestones en route to shattering Ty Cobb's all-time record. The first came in April of 1994 when Rose recorded his 4,000th hit against the Phillies in Canada. Included in this lot are the program and scorecard (unscored) from that day, with both graded EX-MT. The program is signed on the cover by Rose to boot. The program/scorecard from the September 6, 1985, game in Chicago was issued on the day Rose tied Ty Cobb with 4,191 career hits. It is neatly scored in pencil and is in EX-MT condition. Of particular note here is that this particular game ended in a 5-5 tie due to darkness at Wrigley Field. Three days later, Rose would set the new standard with hit 4,192 at home against the Padres.
