Ring Mundial Oil-On-Canvas Original Cover Art Max Baer & Jack Dempsey Paintings
These spectacular oil paintings were used for the cover of the preeminent Mexican boxing magazine of the last few decades “Ring Mundial”. These 20x15”, one of a kind paintings which were mostly oil on canvas (then mounted on artist’s board). Both paintings are in EX-MT condition and were obtained from the daughter of Balente Perez, the sportsman-entrepreneur-artist who published the magazine and also created these paintings. The Max Baer painting is magnificent oil on board and is likely the best work in Perez’s portfolio. In the center is a tense image of this marvelous fighter who went all the way with Joe Louis. On the sides framing him are multiple images of Baer in spectacular colors. The Jack Dempsey painting is easily the most intricate piece of Perez’s work. Dempsey stands on the side in perhaps the most classic image of the Manassas Mauler. He is shown in classic bouts at the top and bottom (both scenes are from famous photos).
