Roberto Clemente Hand Painted Baseball by George Sosnak

Roberto Clemente Hand Painted Baseball by George Sosnak

Folk artist and minor league umpire George Sosnak made a practice of creating works of art dedicated to baseball players using India ink on baseballs. He began the practice in 1956 and eventually he had performed his magic on approximately 800 baseballs. He handed them out as gifts from time to time. This tribute to Roberto Clemente was created very soon after Clemente's premature demise. Sosnak has included almost every last detail of Clemente's career on this baseball. His lifetime stats, bio, caricature and a Pirates team emblem cover the entire ball. Very little white space still shows. Condition is EX-MT with virtually no fading or chipping to the paint.
