Roberto Clemente Signed Letter

Roberto Clemente Signed Letter

Roberto Clemente was a philanthropist long before he died trying to help earthquake victims. He signed (9/10) this heartfelt 1971 Spanish-written letter to General Motors, thanking them for their help in trying to launch a youth sports facility in Puerto Rico. Further down, Clemente writes that he has secured funding for the building costs locally, but that he would still like to exchange ideas with the company on his next visit to New York. The carefully typed correspondence on 8 1/2 x 11" paper (EX) ends with "Cordialmente (Cordially) Roberto Clemente." Great content showing that the man for whom the traditional Hall of Fame 5-year waiting period was waived after his untimely death was no mere poseur when it came to charity, that he had many ideas and plans to help those in need. Sadly, the world would not see those things come to fruition, and that is the secondary tragedy of his death.
