Rod Woodson's 12/2/2001 Signed Inscribed Game Used Football from Interception Return for Touchdown Record Breaking Game (PSA)

On December 2, 2001, in a home game against the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Rod Woodson intercepted Colts quarterback Peyton Manning with 1:34 left in the game and returned it for a touchdown. Woodson's score not only iced the game for the Ravens, making the score 39-27 in their favor, but in doing so he also established a new NFL record for most interception returns for a touchdown with ten. Woodson eventually ended his career with twelve career interception returns for a touchdown, which remains the record.

Offered here is a game-used football from the Ravens vs. Colts game played on December 2, 2001, in which Woodson broke the record. Woodson has inscribed the official NFL football on a side panel in black marker, below which he has written "12 Interception Returned for TD NFL Record vs. Indy 2001 Dec 2nd." Both the signature and inscription grade 6/10 overall. It must be noted that this is NOT the ball that Woodson used when breaking the record, simply a ball used during that game. He obviously inscribed at a later date, after his retirement, which is why he listed his lifetime record of twelve touchdown interceptions.

This football originates directly from Rod Woodson's personal collection and first appeared at auction in 2016. Woodson sold nearly his entire collection of football memorabilia in a series of high-profile public auctions in 2015 and 2016, and this is one of the many significant game-used footballs that was offered at the time. The ball displays light-to-moderate use and is slightly deflated. Full LOA from PSA.
