Ronald Reagan Personally Used Pipe & Tobacco Pouch with Signed Letter - Gifted by Reagan (PSA)
Both pieces offered here were gifted by Ronald Reagan to long-time collector Jim Schendel back in August of 1958, as the pair of personally used items came from the 40th President of the United States. First is a pipe that is cracked at the top, and the accompanying tobacco pouch has "Ron" on one side and shows evidence of use inside. These come with rock solid provenance from Reagan himself with a handwritten letter to Jim on August 24, 1958, reading "Dear Jim, Sorry to be so late in answering your letter of July 18 but CBS just forwarded your letter to me. Having recently given up a twenty year pipe smoking habit I thought perhaps the enclosed pipe and tobacco pouch might be ok for your collection. All the best to you, Sincerely, Ronald Reagan." Jim wrote to him at the perfect time because he just quit smoking and had no use for the pipe anymore; had Jim written earlier - or Reagan answered earlier - he may not have gotten these pieces.
