Roy White Circa 1969 New York Yankees Batting Helmet

Roy White Circa 1969 New York Yankees Batting Helmet

This marvelous vintage no-flap batting helmet dates from the days before they knew better. Number "21" inside is likely for Old Reliable, Roy White, based on the size (7 1/8) and style. American Baseball Cap paper label inside with handwritten "7 1/8" in matching black marker to his Roberto Clemente "21." Both appear to have been on there for decades. Roy White is one of our greatest Yankees and extremely underrated as he was a clutch hitter and top outfielder that made it look easy going back. Also, one of the few to to be around for the worst (late 1960s) and best (late 1970s) Yankee eras.
