Rube Marquard Original Glass Plate Negative

Rube Marquard Original Glass Plate Negative

Original glass negative capturing Hall of Fame pitcher Rube Marquard as a member of the New York Giants. Marquard is seen here swinging a bat on the sideline prior to a game at the Polo Grounds. Interestingly, Marquard was one of the few switch hitting pitchers in baseball history and in this image he is taking his cuts as a lefty. The notation "Marquard N. Y. Giants" is written along the base. Although no date is listed, the uniform style shown here was worn by the Giants from 1913 to 1916. The glass negative (7x5") displays some toning in the center. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. (Please note: the positive image seen on our website is for illustrative purposes only and does not accompany the negative; only the negative is offered in this lot.)
