Sal LaRocca Brooklyn Dodgers Autograph & Documents Collection (29)
Some great stuff here. 1) Gem of the collection is 1952 handwritten letter from HOF sportswriter Les Biederman to a Roy Hamey, with fantastic lengthy content about Branch Rickey resenting Dixie Walker for the Jackie Robinson racism. He questions him pointedly about the issue. 2-11) BROOKLYN DODGER LETTERS (10): 7/10 are on Brooklyn Dodger stationery. From top execs such as Harold Parrot (great one about brushback pitching noting tactics of Durocher & Dressen) and even one to Walter O'Malley re. the Jersey Dodgers. Content mostly about players. 12) Awesome “New 1943 Dodgers” high quality team photo vintage-signed by Augie Galan, Frenchy B, Mickey Owen, Luis Olmo, Curt Davis, Dixie Walker & Clyde Sukeforth in the old fountain pen. 13) Incredible “1947 Ebbets Field” unused scorecard pencil we have never seen before, from Jackie Robinson’s rookie season, in Mint condition. 14) 1952 Album Sportif de La Patrie (Sports Album) supplement vintage page signed “Good Luck Tom Lasorda.” 15-17) Incredible 7-page unsigned confidential July, 1958 scouting report from Andy High to Buzzie Bavasi tells intimate evaluation of every player from Koufax to Snider. Plus, 1951 minor league report and 1950 Dodgertown work schedule from same source. 18) 1932 World Series Shares Handout listing the entire 1932 Dodger team, belonged to Max Carey. 19) 1950 Brooklyn Dodger Organization Spring Training Reporting Schedule, a rare 11-page document listing all the players in the organization. 20) Opening Day 1950 program vintage signed on cover by Gil Hodges (nice) and tough to find Bruce Edwards. 21-25) 1955 World Series pitchers 8x10" signed photo (Labine, Podres, Craig). Plus, Dixie Walker, Pee Wee, Roger Craig signed 8x10s and small Spider Jorgensen (5). 26-29) Four 1950s Brooklyn Dodgers and Montreal Royals envelopes.
