Boxer Sammy Mandell fought during one of the lightweight division’s golden eras- the mid to late 1920’s. He won the lightweight title in 1926 and defended it successfully against two of the all-time great lightweights, Tony Canzoneri and Jimmy McLarnin. A pretty good fighter! Offered here is original, one of a kind artwork published in The SF Examiner in August 1929. A beautiful rendering of Mandell on artists paper measures 7 x 10 and looks as good as the day it was published.
