He was known for sending all his outfielders into the dugout while he took the mound, mowing down the Negro Leagues’ most skilled hitters with the greatest of ease. Satchel Paige pictured in this framed black & white wearing the Pittsburgh Crawfords uniform with which he would enjoy his most successful years in the Negro Leagues (1931-36, although photo was taken after this period). Signed in blue ink, “Best Wishes From Satchel Paige (to Allie).” Signature is an “8” out of a possible 10. Photo is EX-MT.
