Scarce 1950 Callahan Complete Set Original Box
Extremely Rare find. Terrific complete set of Callahan "Who's Who In The Major Leagues" Baseball Hall of Fame Cards. Callahan started to issue the cards in 1950 and the cards contained all the Hall of Fame inductees at that time. Gradually, through 1956, as new inductees to the HOF were added, Callahan expanded the set. Includes Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Nap Lajoie, Lou Gehrig, Walter Johnson, Rogers Hornsby, Tris Speaker, Cy Young, Mickey Cochrane (mispelled as Cochran), Roger Bresnahan (the catcher who invented shinguards, in a drawing without shinguards), Christy Mathewson, Connie Mack and all of the other HOF members in 1950. Artist Mario DeMarco created the cards by making thousands of tiny dots. The illustrations are of such outstanding quality that many persons assume they were sketched, and there is now an expanding market for the Callahan 1950 Baseball Cards. Two extra cards included. Box with creases but closure flaps intact. Very scarce to find an intact set let alone with the box. Each card is 1.75x2.5". Cards are Excellent to Near Mint.
