Star Notre Dame lineman for Knute Rockne and colorful college football chief, Slip Madigan, is captured here in (56) news service and San Francisco staff photos. A few early images here from 1922, but most are from the 30's and 40's. Highlights include Madigan with his exuberant St. Mary's team prepping to play Fordham in the mid 30's, Cruising through the Panama canal in '39, as Coach of the LA Dons in the 40's, fine family photos and strangely, in a wool Notre Dame letterman's jacket on a Santa Cruz beach with two California beach bunnies in '39. Sized from 4x5.5" to 7x13", images range in condition from G to NM+.
