Smokey Joe Wood at Bat Photograph (PSA Type III)

Smokey Joe Wood at Bat Photograph (PSA Type III)

Vintage photograph capturing Joe Wood as a member of the Cleveland Indians, circa 1919. Wood is pictured at the plate during a game. The date stamp "Aug 5 1919" appears on the reverse, along with Wood's name and team affiliation, as well as several editorial markings. Wood was one of the few players in Major League Baseball history who enjoyed success as both a pitcher and position player. After starring for many seasons on the mound with the Red Sox, Wood injured his arm and transitioned to the outfield, where he played for five full seasons with the Indians from 1918 to 1922. The photo (4.75x6.75") remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Encapsulated as Type III Authentic by PSA.
