Spectacular 1917 World Champion Chicago White Sox Team Photo w/Joe Jackson & the Eight Men Out (PSA Type I)

From the championship that was. All of the "Eight Men Out" are accounted for here in this exceptional 1917 World Champion Chicago White Sox team photograph. Photo Type I is a pure vision, exhibiting gorgeous contrast and pinpoint detail. Posed right before their World Series clash with the New York Giants. Marvelous composition diamond of Joe Jackson sitting on the grass in the front row surrounded by compatriots Buck Weaver and Happy Felsch. Eddie Collins - the "honest one" - stands slightly above them with an air of aloofness and superiority mirroring their relationship off the field. Paper caption appears on the reverse. Comes with PSA letter.

Fine assemblage of fresh to the market Ty Cobb ephemera. Recently discovered in the Boston area, it includes some of the finer signed photographs we have seen in all our years and some beautiful Type I photographs as well. We believe this came from something of an industrial source and they were likely used for some publishing venture or perhaps even a card set which was never completed (more cards of this era were created in the New England area versus any other). These fine pieces will also seen in future Lelands auctions incuding a wonderful image of the classic Ty Cobb “Sliding” photograph by Charles Conlon.
