Spectacular Jack Dempsey Signed Painting That Hung in Jack Dempsey's New York Restaurant
This is an original oil painting of Jack Dempsey. Dempsey personally commissioned this painting by artist and illustrator Erik H. Sederling in 1945. The painting itself is 43" x 62". With the frame, the overall size of the item is 52" x 71" inches, and features Dempsey in his favorite fighting stance. When he received the painting, Dempsey decided to share it with all his fans, and prominently displayed it at the entrance of his Jack Dempsey’s Broadway Restaurant in New York City. The painting was on display there until the restaurant closed in 1974. When it was sold at auction in 1974, Dempsey signed it for the winning bidder. Dempsey’s signature on the painting is a gargantuan 18 inches long and coupled with the strong pen pressure earns it a 9.5 rating. The painting itself is in overall VG/EX condition, though there is some evidence of water damage in the bottom right quadrant in the form of some streak marks but they do not interfere with the central image of Dempsey himself nor the large bold signature.
