Splendid "Horseman's" 1880s Lawn Tennis Set In Original Box
Stunning circa 1885 lawn tennis set in original oak box measures 36x13x5" overall. Opens to reveal the most gorgeous paper label in full color lithography, depicting a 19th century tennis scene of the most ideal variety in wonderful graphics. Supreme style is reminiscent of early tobacco sports advertising card advertising such as Allen & Ginter. Reads, "Horsman's Lawn Tennis" emblazoned across the top. Set is complete and all-original with: pair of fine "Forest City" tennis racquets, like new tennis net, two wooden stakes with stunning red paint and early tennis ball. Box has nice metal fittings including two brass handles on sides. Overall excellent. One of the finest sets we have seen.
