Sugar Ray Robinson v. Jimmy Doyle Official Program and Ticket (1947)
On June 24, 1947 at the Arena in Cleveland, Ohio welterweight champion Sugar Ray Robinson defended his title against Jimmy Doyle. Robinson stopped Doyle in the 8th round with a stinging left hook at the bell. Doyle could not come out for the 9th round and subsequently died from the injuries he sustained in this bout. Offered here is an original, official program and on site ticket for this fight. The stubless ticket is illustrated, featuring both fighters and includes a section, row and seat number. Mild creasing and a small chip at lower right corner. The 12-page program is clean and not scored. Not creased, but does have some back cover damage from mounting. Rare combination from one of the tragic fights in the career of Sugar Ray.
