Sullivan v. Corbett Full Ticket (1892-Large Version)
On September 7, 1892, at the Olympic Club in New Orleans, Louisiana, James J. Corbett won the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship by knocking out John L. Sullivan in the 21st round. Corbett's new scientific boxing technique enabled him to dodge Sullivan's rushing attacks, and wear him down with jabs. This was the first gloved contest for the Heavyweight Championship. Offered here is an original, full ticket to this event, which names the fighters, venue and date. Not creased or torn. Printed on heavy stock. Minor edge and corner wear. Minor foxing on the front and back of the ticket. Slight back damage. Minor soiling front and back. 3.25x 4.25". Solid example of a scarce and desirable full ticket.
