Sweet Caporal Cigarettes Advertising Piece

Sweet Caporal Cigarettes Advertising Piece

What lifts this creation above the ordinary is the Jessum hand-painted cigarette pack affixed to the right side of the frame. The title of the piece - "Smoke Up" - is displayed on a tarnished plaque at the base. The centerpiece is a hand-colored photographic print with "Copyright 1901 By James Arthur" printed at the bottom right. Sweet Caporal is one of the oldest names in cigarette brands, having produced smokes from 1887 to this year before closing up shop. The entire piece, framed in wood, measures 13.5" x 25.5" and is in VG-EX condition, with some markings and imperfections.
