Team Canada 2002 Olympics Gold Medal Champions Complete Set of Game Worn Heritage Uniforms (23)

Team Canada 2002 Olympics Gold Medal Champions Complete Set of Game Worn Heritage Uniforms (23)

Lelands and Wayne Gretzky Authentic are proud to offer the complete set of Heritage uniforms worn by the Gold Medal Team Canada squad during their first match of the 2002 Winter Olympic Game at Salt Lake City. The greatest assembly of talent ever chosen to represent Canada took to the ice on February 15, 2002 as they faced the Swedish roster in their Olympic debut. Although they got off to a slow start, falling to the Swedes with a final score of 5-2, Canada would go on undefeated and capture Olympic glory in an exciting match-up in the Gold Medal game one week later with the United States. Each matching uniform is fashioned in a striking style with the Heritage Maple Leaf crest decorating the front in a tribute to Canada’s Olympic past. The modern Team Canada crest sits on each shoulder. The design incorporates colors of brilliant red with black and white accents with a lace-up neck and stylish numbering. Each features the Nike and IIHF tagging in the collar with an embroidered IIHF crest again on the tail. Nike has added a unique bar-coded inventory tag in the hem of each shirt and this was done for all hockey uniforms at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. This unique and attractive set of alternate uniforms was worn for the opening game only and not used again as the boys elected to stick with their home and road shirts for the remaining games. However, overall, the wear on these shirts is better than would be expected with numerous stick slashes and board burns. Theo Fleury’s jersey has two stitched team repairs on the belly and big Eric Lindros had extra material sewn onto the cuffs and waist to accommodate his large frame. Uniforms worn by the team’s forwards include those of Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic, Owen Nolan, Ryan Smith, Brendan Shanahan, Mike Peca, Eric Lindros, Paul Kariya, Joe Nieuwendyk, Jerome Iginla, Simon Gagne and Theo Fleury. Defenseman represented are Rob Blake, Eric Brewer, Adam Foote, Ed Jovanovski, Al MacInnis, Scott Neidermayer and Chris Pronger. Also included are jerseys worn by the three netminders representing Canada, Ed Belfour, Curtis Joseph and series star Martin Brodeur. Players who did not appear in the game, but whose team issued jerseys are included in the lot are Ed Belfour and Ryan Smith. Documentation will include individual Letters of Authenticity from the Canadian Hockey Association.
