The Splendid Splinter, still splendid in 1954, is shown working at his craft. No player ever worked harder at perfecting the art of hitting a baseball than did Mr. Williams. And within the constraints of human imperfection, he succeeded. Need evidence? Three years after this photo was taken, at the advanced baseball age of 39, he batted an astounding .388. Pretty perfect! The original 4”x 5” negative is in NRMT condition.
