Tennis Memorabilia Collection w/Numerous Signed Items
<p>Large collection of tennis items consisting photos, signed photos, signed index cards, signed cards, and a few miscellaneous items. Signatures average 8/10 and the items are in overall Very Good to Excellent condition. <strong>Photos (7). </strong>Three of the photos (7x9") appear to be original and come with their attached paper news captions: Maureen Connolly (8/28/51), Frank Sedgman (7/10/57), and Stan Smith (8/30/74). The remainder are modern prints or wire photos (8x10" or slightly smaller): Stan Smith (2 examples), Helen Jacobs, and Helen Wills Moody. <strong>Signed Photos (10). </strong>The ten signed photos (approximately 8x10" with three smaller) include magazine pages, modern prints, snapshots and one vintage news photo. All are signed by the respective player pictured: Vic Seixas, Althea Gibson, Ted Schroeder (two examples), Frank Parker, Rod Laver, Fred Perry, R. Norris Williams, Jack Kramer (ACME news photo), and Don Budge. <strong>Signed Index cards (5). </strong>Althea Gibson, Helen Jacobs, Helen Wills Roarke, Maureen Connolly, and one signed by four French tennis players (names illegible). <strong>Signed Cards (8).</strong> The eight trading cards are all 1991 Netpro Pro Tennis Player Cards and have been signed on the front by the respective players: #5 Rod Laver, #8 Tony Trabert, #10 Sherwood Stewart, #12 Roy Emerson, #28 Ilie Nastase, #29 John Newcombe, #38 Cliff Drysdale, and #46 Tracy Austin. <strong>Miscellaneous Items (5):</strong> 1) Circa late 1940s/early 1950s die-cut Wilson easel-back retail counter display featuring Pauline Betz in promotion of the company's "Strata Bow Rackets." Approximately 13.5x13." There is a near-complete tear in her left arm and her left hand is missing a portion of the thumb; otherwise it is in Excellent condition overall. 2) Contract, dated July 13, 1972, signed by Pancho Gonzales (signed "Richard A. Gonzales"). The five-page contract was issued for his appearance on the television show titled "Sports Challenge." 3) Circa 1930s British "John Player & Sons" tennis tobacco album (7.5x5") complete with all 50 tobacco cards affixed on the interior pages. 4-5) Two different 1979 sports instruction cards, each signed by the respective player featured on the front: Vic Seixas and Ken Rosewall (personalized to "Dan"). </p>
