"The 27 Club" Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin Autographs (PSA & JSA)

"The 27 Club" Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin Autographs (PSA & JSA)

Presented is a great 3-in-1 offer for fans of vintage rock legends: A Jimi Hendrix signature, a Janis Joplin signed handwritten envelope and a Jim Morrison signed check. The "21 Club", mentioned in this offering's title, refers to an informal listing of musicians, artists, actors and other celebrities who died at the age of 27. Sadly, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison are musicians who have each passed away within two years of each other, each at the age of 27. When Kurt Cobain died in 1994 at 27 years old, the "Club 27" term became even more common, and it has expanded since. 1) Jimi Hendrix was one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time. His renditions of "Purple Haze", "Voodoo Child" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" (at Woodstock) are legendary. The Jimi Hendrix signature and inscription are written in blue ink on an approx. 1.25" x 3" piece of irregularly cut and torn thin cardboard or card stock. Hendrix has signed in pen and inscribed "Best Wishes/Jimi Hendrix." 2) Jim Morrison rose to fame with The Doors when The Doors released 'Light My Fire" in 1965. The Jim Morrison signed check is from "Doors Productions Corp." and it is drawn on the Security Pacific National Bank in Los Angeles. The check is made out to "James Morrison" for the amount of ninety dollars and dated June 5, 1970. Morrison used a pen writing in black ink, and he signed the back of the check as "James Morrison." 3) Janis Joplin had many Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 hits, including cover versions of "Piece of my heart", "Cry Baby", and "Ball and Chain". Joplin has signed the back of a 4" x 6" envelope as part of her return address. PSA/DNA Authentication Services has certified that all writing on the envelope has been done in the hand of Janis Joplin. The Joplin writing has been done in blue ink, and she has written both the name and address of the recipient of the letter "Mr. Peter[?] de Blanc" and his New York City address in blue ink from a ballpoint pen. Joplin included her name and Texas address on the back of the envelope, also written in blue ink from a ballpoint pen. The front of the envelope has the mailing address crossed out and re-written in pencil from an unknown hand. The envelope shows wear and has a Port Arthur, Texas (Janis Joplin's birthplace) 1965 postmark. The offering presents three signatures from three of the most famous rock musicians of all time. Jimi Hendrix cut and Janis Joplin signed envelope are currently being encapsulated at PSA. Images will be updated when they are completed.
