"The Babe Bows Out" Large-Format Photograph Signed by Nat Fein

"The Babe Bows Out" Large-Format Photograph Signed by Nat Fein

Original large-format silver-gelatin photograph (14x11") of "The Babe Bows Out" signed by photographer Nat Fein in the lower right corner. This is perhaps the most celebrated photograph in sports history and one that earned Fein a Pulitzer Prize in 1949. The haunting image captures Babe Ruth as he makes his final appearance at Yankee Stadium on June 13, 1948, to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of Yankee Stadium. Ruth was in very poor health at the time and he died just two months later. The photo is accompanied by a one-page typed-signed letter of authenticity from David Nieves, who is the Curator/Estate Adminstrator of the Nat Fein Estate. In his letter, Nieves attests that this photo was developed by Fein from the original negative and then signed by Fein in black ink. Original Type I images of "The Babe Bows Out" are rare, and often sell for exorbitant prices at auction. A piece such as this, made from the original negative by Fein, is the next best alternative for collectors. The fact that it is the highly-desirable large-format size, and has been signed by Fein, only adds to its appeal. A stunning photographic image that is perfect for display in either home or office. The photo is in apparent Mint condition and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 20.5x16.5".
