The Finest Willard Mullin Original Artwork Extant

The Finest Willard Mullin Original Artwork Extant

Two-page center spread from the long coveted 1956 Manufacturer's Hanover baseball schedule. Pen & ink has been personally hand colored by Mullin in what appears to be an acrylic on artist's board. Tantalizing image shows the famous mascots the New York "Yankee," New York "Giant" and Brooklyn Dodger "Bum." Holding their respective championship year pennants (1953-55), they are gazing long-ingly at the blazing yellow sun of "1956." The 1950s Manufacturer's Hanover Bank schedules are per-haps Willard Mullin's finest work. They represent the peak in the career of the Dean of America's sports cartoonists. The only original piece extant let alone the most desirable of all, the double page center spread. EX+. 14x12".
